Trackpad not working in Ubuntu 24

Start by verifying that the computer is fully updated:

1. Open a Terminal window (Press the CTRL + ALT + T keys together).
2. Run the following commands followed by pressing the Enter key after each one:

sudo apt-get updatesudo apt-get upgrade -y

1. Reboot the computer for the changes to take effect.
2. Enable the HWE kernel:
   1. Open a Terminal window.
   2. Run the following command followed by pressing the Enter key.

sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-hwe-16.04 xserver-xorg-hwe-16.04

Reboot your system and see if your trackpad is now working.

Tried this. Works, but the gestures are not working. I mean, I am being forced to use the trackpad buttons and the double finger scroll gesture and all are not working..

Check if you are using the Wayland or Xorg while logging in by clicking on the cog at the bottom right corner of the screen. Gestures work with the Wayland. Logout, and login using the Wayland if you are using Xorg.
